About

I'm Vytas Gaizutis. I've been painting since my teens, and for the last several years I've been working entirely in digital form, building abstract compositions on an iPad with an Apple Pencil, piece by piece, layer by layer.

I studied biology at Loyola University of Chicago, and while I was there I also studied drawing and painting. Those two threads, science and art, have shaped how I think about my work ever since. Digital tools gave me a new way to keep working through the same questions I've always been drawn to: color, texture, light, and how they hold together on a surface.

My work is abstract, often built from layered color and texture that feels like it's emitting its own light. I'm drawn to compositions that hold tension between order and unpredictability, and to palettes that feel alive rather than decorative.

I live and work in Northern California. My paintings are available for licensing to hospitality, corporate, and select commercial and media projects, and I take on commissioned series when the right project comes along.
